The Jim Henson’s Creature shop is the best. I know it, you know it. I have worked with the New York AND the Los Angeles group for many years now. I even have my designs and artwork up on their wall. It’s an honor that young Brett never would have seen coming!?!
I have done many designs and jobs since this fateful photo.
I worked with Ben Rector on making Joy:
I designed the Avett Brothers!
I have made otters.
Golf announcers:
Musicians:
And foods!
I worked on Dark Crystal for 2 hot weeks, Fraggle Rock, Melissa McCarthy’s Puppet movie, and many more over the years. The designers, builders, staff and art directors are amazing and it really is a place that’s full of creativity and good people. As a freelancer, it’s a rare feeling to feel a part of something bigger. Freelancers are usually on the “outside” of most groups and projects, but not Henson. I am so grateful to both shops for the years of good times and projects, even the really tough puppets and clients!?! hahaha.
I made this substack read for me really. Yesterday I got an amazing package from the Henson Shop as a thank you gift for our times together. It just got me thinking how long I’ve had this opportunity and I need to say it out loud to remind myself.
Thank you Henson, and thank you to all the supporters and fans of our work and my journey. I appreciate you all.

Cheers,
That's awesome! A friend of mine worked at the Creature Shop in the late 90s, it sounded like a REALLY fun place to work!
This is ... TERRIFIC !!
